Extension at Currergate Nursing Home is officially opened
We have invested £1.5 million in creating 15 new en-suite rooms at a nursing home in Steeton. Czajka Care Group has officially opened the new three storey extension at Currergate Nursing Home, and news of the opening has prompted enquiry levels for places to soar.
Anyone aged over 65 can reserve a room at the popular nursing home, which is rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Independently owned and with a loyal and experienced team of 55, enquiries for rooms have come from people living in Skipton, Keighley and the wider North and West Yorkshire areas.
Czajka Care Group was established in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, in 1983, 41 years ago. Its owner and managing director, Konrad Czajka, has recently been recognised for his outstanding commitment to the care industry, at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Czajka Care Group bought Currergate Nursing Home 21 years ago in 2003.
Konrad said: “We are so proud of everything we have achieved over the years, and we are delighted to see the new extension at our Currergate Nursing Home open after years of planning for it. Previously with just 34 rooms, we often had to have people on a waiting list, so to have 15 brand new rooms available is just ideal, as we never like turning people away.
“Currergate Nursing Home is a welcoming place where people are assured of being looked after well medically, but it is also a place where they can thrive, make friends and be part of a flourishing community. The team at Currergate Nursing Home are what makes it such a special place to live, and we can’t wait to welcome our new residents.”

Forty years together
Irene Jest has played a huge part in Czajka Care Croup’s story over the last 40 years. The 76-year-old was one of the original ‘gang’ employed by Konrad Czajka when he first started out in the care industry, and she has contributed so much to the family-run care company over her many years of dedicated service. Irene retired in 2023 and now lives in Idle, but she still makes regular visits to the homes and The Clubhouse at Fairmount Park.
