Love is in the air at Czajka Care Group
There was plenty of love in the air across our three care and nursing homes this month, with lots of fun Valentine’s celebrations taking place, thanks to the creative and thoughtful teams that work in the popular homes.
During February residents also enjoyed several shopping trips, lunches out and special activities including baking and pizza making.
Czajka Care Group is a family-run business established in Saltaire in 1983, which has been a beacon of quality care in West Yorkshire for over four decades. Its managing director, Konrad Czajka, said: “We are lucky to have so many enthusiastic and creative team members who always pull out all the stops to celebrate special occasions and dates like Valentine’s Day on top of their day to day roles, and we all really appreciate this.”
Czajka Care Group owns and operates Brookfield Care Home and Staveley Birkleas Nursing Home, which are both in Nab Wood near Saltaire, and Currergate Nursing Home in Steeton. The company also offers a range of purpose-built retirement houses and apartments at Currergate Mews in Steeton and Fairmount Park in Nab Wood.
Both Brookfield Care Home and Currergate Nursing Home have benefited from significant recent investments and extensions, and Brookfield Care Home now provides care for 45 residents, and 47 residents can be cared for at Currergate Nursing Home following the creation of 23 new en-suite rooms across the two homes.
Konrad added: “We make it our priority to always have something fun and exciting to take part in and mark special occasions like birthdays and Mother’s and Father’s Day as it’s these celebrations that mean so much to our residents.”
Czajka Care Group recently added a new three storey, 15 room extension at Currergate Nursing Home and completed a new eight room extension and refurbishment programme at Brookfield Care Home so it can care for more older people across Bradford, Shipley, Keighley, Skipton and beyond.
Both Currergate Nursing Home and Brookfield Care Home are rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and they provide full-time care, respite care, palliative care, day care and short breaks.

Special visitors bring music and smiles to Brookfield Care Home
Residents and staff at Brookfield Care Home were treated to a heartwarming visit from Richard and his lovely dog, Honey. Richard filled the home with music and cheer as he sang some of our residents’ favourite songs, while Honey captured everyone’s hearts with her adorable tricks. The afternoon was filled with laughter, cuddles, and even a few happy tears as everyone enjoyed the uplifting atmosphere. A big thank you to Richard and Honey for bringing so much joy and warmth to our home!
Another wish fulfilled at Staveley Birkleas Nursing Home
What a truly unforgettable day for our wonderful resident, Michelangelo, as his lifelong dream came true — watching his beloved hometown team, Napoli, play against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Thanks to the dedication and effort of our amazing team at Staveley Birkleas, we were able to make this special wish a reality. The joy and pride on Michelangelo’s face said it all. It was more than just a football match — it was a day filled with happiness, memories, and heartfelt moments. A huge thank you to all the team who went above and beyond to make this incredible experience possible.
Special visitors bring smiles to Currergate Nursing Home in Steeton
Residents and our team at Currergate Nursing Home were delighted to welcome a pair of friendly alpacas! The gentle visitors quickly became the stars of the day, bringing smiles, laughter, and plenty of cuddles to everyone they met. Calm and curious, the alpacas loved all the attention — and even posed for a few cheeky selfies! These heartwarming moments truly brighten our days and create memories to treasure.
